An earlobe keloid is a benign overgrowth of connective tissue that develops in the area of skin damage after piercings, burns, or surgery. Keloids never develop into cancer. Earlobe keloids are more common in African Americans and Asians than in Caucasians.
The size, depth, and duration of the ear keloid affect the choice of treatment. There is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach that treats active or inactive keloids. Therefore, there are many treatment options available.
