Treatment and removal of scars with Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion – skin polishing is used to treat fresh posttraumatic scars, fresh scars after a deeply destructive inflammation such as chickenpox scars, acne scars or scars after furunculus and for correction all types of scars, except active keloids. However, microdermabrasion has no significant effect on the old scars (for old scars uses Subcision with better effect). Using the vacuum microdermabrasion, the aluminum sand is blown onto the surface of the skin and some particles are imprinted in the problem zone. Thus, the scar edges are leveled and smoothed (Fig.1).

The second important positive point of the scar removal with microdermabrasion is the traction of the scar bottom to the skin surface thanks to the vacuum (Fig.3). The method requires no anesthesia, the recovery phase is about 4-10 days. In order to achieve visible results, 3-5 treatments must be performed every 3-4 weeks.

In contrast to an ablative laser, microdermabrasion can not worsen the appearance of the scar and the skin condition.
